Generally, Long Island lawns need between 1″ to 2″ of water per week whether the water comes from natural rainfall or a sprinkler irrigation system

A good rule of thumb is that it’s generally better to water your lawn during the hours of 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. Irrigating during these hours has the least effect on disease development. Watering in the morning keeps the turf cooler during the hot parts of the day, which means less stress on the grass.

Any designed or installed work we provide can be maintained or serviced by EJB. This includes full landscape planting, sod or seed, mulch, retaining walls etc.

All our plantings are sourced from Long Island’s best local nurseries. We strive to provide you with suggestions for the right plantings based on the particular planting area you are looking to landscape.

Warranties are available on all shrubs and trees planted by EJB .

Wherever and whenever we can we recycle the clippings back to the turf as grass blades, and leaves being 80% water and nutrients, are the very best compost for building long-term highly organic soil. We only catch when an area is too small or we may get too many clippings in garden beds.

Yes, we do. It is one of the most popular  services that we offer at EJB as we hand prune each shrub. Full-service maintenance customers can arrange for this by calling us and will receive first availability.

Mulch provides the following benefits for planting when done correctly: For shrubs and ornamental trees, a mulch base of 3″-4″ is recommended. It helps to keep weeds in check, retains moisture in the soil and adds organic matter to the soil as it decays. Woody, ornamental and evergreen trees do not need or want their soil cultivated around their roots.
